Back in July the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government released a report that has put Estate Agents on the path towards the regulation of estate agents in the UK and letting agents in England.

While we don’t know what regulation will look like in its final form, the report showed the recommendations of the Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA) Working Group. The  recommendations include:

  • All agencies should be licensed
  • All staff delivering ‘reserved activities’ should be licensed and adhere to a Code of Practice
  • All staff delivering ‘reserved activities’ should be qualified to Level 3
  • All company directors and management agents should be qualified to Level 4

A new regulator be appointed to oversee compliance with an overarching Code of Practice

Here at M & M we welcome this.
