Who, what, where and when?
On Friday 2nd June seventeen Leighton Buzzard Young Farmers members take on the 3 Peaks Challenge. The challenge consists of climbing 3 mountains in 3 different countries all in 24 hours.
Who for, and why?
The event is all in aid of their two chosen charities, both of which are close to hearts of many of their members. Firstly, KidsOut a national charity based in Leighton Buzzard that help disadvantaged children in our area; the charity provides children who have escaped domestic violence or poverty with the chance to make happy memories. Florence Nightingale Hospice is the other chosen charity, where support is given to those in their final stages of life, as well as providing support for close family who have been affected.
They been training hard with several walks round the Chilterns in preparation for the walk. They have also prepared by taking a trip to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike, one of the mountains which they will encounter on their challenge. A massive highlight for them has been the amount of support and sponsorship they have already gained currently raising over £8,000, from local businesses, friends and family.
